Senior email offering announced by Ecumen and Presto.

Senior email by Ecumen and Presto

Email for seniors has long been a troublesome issue for families. Many have tried to get mom or dad to adopt a computer, and have failed. This effectively cut them off from most of the interpersonal communications that goes on between family members these days.

In a major step towards solving this problem for many families, today we are announcing that Presto has signed an agreement with Minnesota-based Ecumen, the leading innovator in senior housing and services, to make Presto Mail service available to Ecumen-at-home customers [click here to read press release].

Ecumen had been looking for a solution to connect various family members with their customers who didn’t use computers, and they found it in Presto. Ecumen’s Chief Information Officer, Larry Jorgensen said, “The absence of complexity is what caused us to choose Presto.” and “Presto provides an elegant way to link our customers to their friends and family all over the world without anyone needing to learn anything new.”

I’m looking forward to helping Ecumen families across the Midwest and West get digitally connected through Presto. They are a high quality organization and are demonstrating their innovative and empowering approach to “Changing Aging” with this initiative.

I have tried for many years to interest my sister-in-law who is 7 years older than I am and is wheel-chair bound and in an assisted living facility, in getting a computer, but she is adamantly opposed. At last her children have enabled her to use Presto, and I am delighted to be able to communicate with her (even though it is only one-way communication). I do wish I could hear from her in response, but I guess that is impossible !

Presto is perfect for my parents, ages 86 & 88. They live independently in ID and we are 8 hours away in OR. I use Presto Daily Smile to automatically send them a photo each day and Mom enjoyes saving them in a binder. Years ago she had email, but wasn't enthusiastic about sending email. However, she loves receiving emails. I can now send her quick notes throughout the week, usually with a photo I've taken on my iPhone. She looks forward to her Presto "mail" throughout the day. I like the way the emails are formatted and easy for her to read. Although I could probably do close to the same with a fax machine, the added value of Presto is the ease of using it for both senders & receivers. I just wish I could get more of my siblings, our kids, grandchildren & great-grandchildren to use it!
